Watercolor Painting
Instructor: Liz King

Discover the joy of watercolor in this six-week beginner’s course, where you’ll learn essential techniques, explore color and texture, and create paintings you’ll be proud to share. Just come to learn, have fun and - relax while learning the wonders of making art with watercolors. Emphasis is on the development of artistic skills and techniques for those with little or no previous experience with drawing or painting.
We will use watercolor pencils, a watercolor set, paper and water to create art. Learn the basics of painting from still life setups and nature. Individual help and hands-on demonstrations help students feel comfortable with artistic materials and processes.

SUPPLIES

Watercolor sets

WWatercolor sets come in many sizes, styles, and price ranges, but you only need one set for this class. I wouldn’t recommend a children’s set, but you can easily find a good option at Michael’s for under $12, and even less if you use a coupon. There are also higher quality sets, sets with more colors, and compact travel sets with smaller pans that you might like. Watercolors also come in tubes, though those may be a bit trickier for a beginning class. Below are a few sets I’ve used and liked, but there are many others that will work just fine. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. 😊

Interests

Apart from being a web developer, I enjoy most of my time being outdoors. In the winter, I am an avid skier and novice ice climber. During the warmer months here in Colorado, I enjoy mountain biking, free climbing, and kayaking.

When forced indoors, I follow a number of sci-fi and fantasy genre movies and television shows, I am an aspiring chef, and I spend a large amount of my free time exploring the latest technology advancements in the front-end web development world.
